Although typically thought of as a regime for resolving financial distress and insolvency, Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code has been called upon to tackle social and political issues that have very significant policy implications in areas of labor, crypto, health, environment, energy, civil rights and product liability.  After a review of the basics of U.S. bankruptcy law, we will read and discuss materials from selected high profile bankruptcies over the past dozen years.

Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on a final paper of 2500 to 3000 words (90%) and class participation (10%). Papers must be delivered to the Records Office by 4:00 p.m. on February 5, 2024.
