Women and the Law

This student organization is committed to addressing three ways in which women and the law intersect:

  • women at the law school
  • women in the legal profession
  • women affected by the law

Our club objectives/goals are to provide networking opportunities to women in law school with each other as well as women in the legal profession; to educate female students about career opportunities in the legal profession; and increase awareness and discussion about the way the women in society are affected by the law.

 

Some past initiatives have included:

  • Professional networking and mentorship social with trailblazing female lawyers, faculty and alumni
  • Firm tours and diversity round tables
  • White Ribbon commemoration and fundraiser
  • Fireside chat "Sex Worker's Ontario Charter Challenge"
  • Movie screening and discussion "Women Lawyers in Film"
  • Cyber-mentorship program with Asian University for Women 
  • Self-defence seminar
