Women and the law

Women & the Law (Student Group)

The Women & the Law Society is committed to working with women, for women. We strive to build a community among women-identifying law students, provide opportunities for students to connect with women in the legal profession and increase discourse around how women in society are affected by the law. Our executive team works with other student groups and female lawyers to organize events and campaigns, including a 150-person networking event every January.

Past initiatives have included:

  • Professional networking and mentorship event with female lawyers, faculty and alumni
  • Firm tours and diversity round tables
  • Fireside chats on various topics, including “Sex Worker’s Ontario Charter Challenge”
  • Movie screening and discussion on “Women Lawyers in Film”
  • Self-defence seminar
