Justice for Children and Youth (JFCY)

Jenn StrateJenn's research this summer explored the implementation of extrajudicial measures for youth in Ontario police services.  Jenn also became involved in almost every aspect of the Justice for Children and Youth clinic, from intake and client file work, to facilitating Public Legal Education seminars, to project development including the creation of a new Court Watch program set to be launched this November.

Jenn writes:  "My greatest success was in becoming a part of the exciting daily activities of Justice for Children and Youth while also being able to focus my attention on a discrete research project that the clinic would not have otherwise been able to commission.  I was surprised by the variety of activities I engaged in during the summer, including carrying client files and giving summary advice on a wide range of topics, as well as facilitating public legal education seminars.  This was an excellent introduction to working in the law, and benefited the clinic and the clients I came into contact with as well."
