About 200 high school students from across  the Greater Toronto Area attended the popular and annual "See Yourself Here" event, on March 1st, a 'getting into law school boot camp' for students from backgrounds under-represented in the Canadian legal profession and law-related careers.

Welcome Day 2019 draws new admits for an info-packed event

It was a busy and info-packed Welcome Day 2019, as about 145 newly admitted students, 'admits,' plus guests spent a full day at the Faculty of Law, meeting faculty, staff, alumni and their future classmates, touring the Jackman Law Building and learning more about what the next three years will be about.

U of T Faculty of Law Class of 2018 articling rate: 98%

The Career Development Centre has posted the latest statistics for law’s Class of 2018, and the Faculty of Law is pleased to see 98% of the graduates known to be actively seeking articling placements have secured a position. There were 214 graduates, and 196 found positions, with 10 pursuing other plans, such as further study or non-legal employment, while 5 did not respond to the survey. Elena Kagan’s career has been both varied and accomplished. The associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States has worked in the White House, taught at the University of Chicago, and is the first woman to become dean of Harvard Law School and to hold the job of U.S. solicitor general.

Each year, since 2015, the Faculty of Law has been able to get a clear picture of our first-year JD students, thanks to a self-reporting survey used to gather information about the diversity of the new cohort, and to match students with peer mentors.

This fall, we have 213 students in first year, out of 2,388 who applied. And for the fourth consecutive year, that number of applications to the JD program has gone up— 8% over last year and up 15% compared to 2015-16.
