More than 200 remarkable Faculty of Law graduates have now joined an outstanding global alumni group, as the Class of 2018 celebrated Convocation Day on June 8th. A warm sunny day greeted the newly minted alumni, who were gathered together with their family and friends, faculty and staff in Convocation Hall on King’s College Circle, and later at the Faculty of Law.

A new international business law internship at the Faculty of Law, generously funded by alumnus Dr. Scott Guan, SJD 2003, is sending JD law student D’Arcy White to Shanghai this spring.

This is the inaugural year for the Dr. Scott Guan China Law Practice Award, and he hopes it expands over the years.

SJD student and Trudeau Scholar Daniel Del Gobbo has co-authored (with Vathsala Illesinghe) a commentary in the magazine Policy Options, "The #MeToo movement has exposed inequalities in the legal system that disadvantage women. Restorative justice could help in certain sexual violence cases" (April 23, 2018).

Law students land top U of T intramural awards

At the recent university-wide Intramural Awards Banquet, Faculty of Law students won major awards, making this the best year ever for intramural sports at the law school.

The Faculty of Law was awarded the Stewart-Wodehouse banner and the John Robb banner for participation in co-ed and men's intramural sports respectively. These banners are awarded to the division with the greatest number of points based on participation. This year, more than 20 percent of the student body, about 140 plus, participated in at least two intramural games.
