Jessie Stirling (Wa’ya T’so-la) is a Kwakwaka’wakw woman and a member of the Wei Wai Kum First Nation located on the east coast of Vancouver Island. She was brought up on the traditional lands of her people in Campbell River, B.C., and lived on reserve until the age of eighteen.

The Auditor General of Canada, Karen Hogan, has appointed Faculty of Law alumnus Jerry V. DeMarco (LLB 1994) to join her executive team as Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD). Mr. DeMarco will officially stepped into his new role with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (OAG) on 1 February.

Linda Plumpton (LLB 1994), Partner and Chair of Torys' Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, was named to Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards in the category of Intact Professional, recognizing women who are professionals in practice and play a leadership role within their organizations.

Five years ago, University of Toronto alumna Natalie Jenner (LLB 1993) decided to pursue a passion project: a bookstore in Oakville, Ont. But shortly after opening, her husband was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive and terminal condition impacting the lungs.
