Alumnus Chris Bentley ('79) has been appointed Attorney-General of Ontario.

He was first elected to the Ontario legislature, representing London West, in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007. He previously served as Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and Minister of Labour.

New program for women lawyers launched by U of T law and business schools

The University of Toronto Faculty of Law has partnered with the Rotman School of Management to launch the "Business Leadership for Women Lawyers" program.

This three-day intensive program is designed for high potential women associates who have been practicing for 5 - 8 years and who would like to improve their management and business skills and advance within their firms.

Arnup Cup moot

The University of Toronto was pronounced the winner of the 2008 Arnup Cup moot, a competition in criminal law among Ontario law schools.  Our team - Jenn Strate and Ellen Silver - conducted their trial and did a superb job as Crowns. The University of Toronto now has the privilege of competing in the National Trial Advocacy competition - the Sopinka Cup competition - which will be held in March in Ottawa.

Professor Lorne Sossin has been appointed Investigator for the City of Toronto. This position was created under the City of Toronto Act, 2006 and investigates complaints that meetings of City Council or any other City Agency, Board or Commission were improperly closed to the public.
