Welcome Events 2024

updated Feb 12, 2024

Celebrate your JD admission and learn all about your law school!

We are delighted to have you join the Faculty of Law community.

By attending this suite of welcome events you will connect with senior students, faculty and staff, and of course, meet your fellow newly admitted students. You will also delve into the many features and benefits that makes enrolment in our JD program a rewarding experience like no other.

Who may attend?

These are open invitations to admitted JD students. Since the intent of these events is for Admits to meet and get to know each other better, the priority is to accommodate admitted students before additional (non-Admits) guests.

At Welcome Day, only if space permits after Admits have registered, one additional guest per Admit may be considered. Please await our update a few days after the final registration deadline, regarding guest spaces.

  • ADMITS
As long as you have not declined our offer of admission you may attend. Accepting our offer is not required in order to attend. The events for Admits will be held in-person as indicated, unless public health directives warrant a switch to a virtual format. Event registration is required to attend any of the events, either in-person or remotely.

  • PARENTS/PARTNERS OF ADMITS
On Tuesday February 27th, we have programmed an online event for parents and/or partners of Admits. Please see the schedule, and if they are interested in attending, the Admits invite them to complete the online Registration for Parents/Partners. After the Parents/Partners register for their single session, on the day before the session (February 26th) they will receive an email with the session Zoom link.

Welcome Day Dress Code & Ride Sharing

  • Business casual and in accordance with winter weather (e.g. avoid high heels if it will be icy/snowy).

  • We'd like see if ride sharing among attendees is possible. When you register for the event please indicate your interest in giving or getting a ride so that we can facilitate the connections between attendees.

YOUR 2024 WELCOME EVENTS!

  1. WELCOME DAY
Friday February 23rd | in-person, with most sessions via Zoom

  2. WELCOME SHOWCASE
Monday February 26th to Wednesday February 28th | online via Zoom only

The suite of events is designed to give you an introduction to the main aspects of the JD program and the student opportunities. Thus you may expect a comprehensive overview, rather than an exhaustive set of information on every facet of the education and experience.

We recognize that the scheduled times will not be optimal for everyone. While all Welcome Events are optional, sessions will not be recorded, however many segments of Welcome Day will be available live via Zoom.

As long as you can attend any part of the suite of events, then please participate. At any time during the admission cycle, you can email JD Admissions for assistance with your curiosities and questions.
