Welcome Day 2020

Celebrate your JD admission and learn all about your law school!

We are delighted to have you join the Faculty of Law community!

At this day-long event you will connect with senior students, faculty, alumni and staff, and of course, meet your fellow newly admitted students. You will also delve into the many features and benefits that makes enrolment in our JD program a rewarding experience like no other.

EVENT REGISTRATION

You do not have to accept the offer of admission in order to attend. As long as you did not decline the offer by the event date, then we hope that you can attend. 

  • ADMITS
    By the end of day (extended to) Wednesday February 5th, please REGISTER ONLINE.

  • ADDITIONAL GUESTS (non-admits) - REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS Updated
      • There is space for 8-10 additional guests in total. 
      • Starting at noon Tuesday February 11 until noon Thursday February 13 (Toronto time), an admitted student who has already RSVPd for the event can request ONE additional guest. Priority will be given to admitted students who will be attending from furthest away, based on the their initial event registration.

      • When completing the request form please first add YOUR information (the first listed name and email), followed by the guest's information as indicated.

      • Submit your Request for ONE Additional Guest here.
      • Guest Approval & Notification
        After the request period has ended, the requests will be reviewed for selection, given the limited guest spaces. Priority will be given the admitted students who will be attending from furthest away, based on their initial event registration. Notification of selection is expected to be made on the evening of Thursday February 13, by email to the admitted student.

      • Guest Dress Code
        Business casual, and also dress in accordance with the winter weather (e.g. avoid high heels).

All daytime activities will be in the Jackman Law Building.
Get your name tag and event guide in the atrium on the main floor. 
Coffee, tea and water will be provided, along with a lovely sit-down lunch.
We recommend that you have a hearty breakfast before you arrive since it's an all-day event.

STUDENT LIFE INFORMATION FAIR
Discover a sampling of the many student clubs and associations, and public-interest programs/clinics in which you can get involved. As you walk through the fair, have a chat with the reps to learn about their activities and what you'll gain from participating in them. In addition, Student Services staff will be there to answer your questions on careers, and financial aid (along with reps from Scotiabank and TD).

Unofficial Informal Pub Night with current JD students 
After the official Welcome Day has ended your upper year peers will hold a little informal gathering at East of Brunswick pub that's within walking distance. Current students will lead you from the event to the pub. Plan for at least a 2-hour stay, and bring some $ for evening refreshments.

JACKMAN ENTRANCES
For newcomers to the campus we recommend entering Jackman Law Building, either from:

  • the east entrance, from Queen's Park, or
  • the south entrance, from Hoskin Ave. 

Both entrances are accessible for mobility devices.


PUBLIC TRANSIT (TTC)

  • Subway/Streetcar
    • Travel to the Museum subway station located on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina; yellow line)
    • Exit to the surface on the South West side
    • It's a one-minute walk, southward to Jackman Law Building
    • Use the east entrance of Jackman Law Building

  • Bus
    • The 94 and 94A buses stop nearest to the law school. Do not take the 94C bus.

      Westbound to the law school

      94A bus, exit at the Queen's Park North stop which stops alongside Jackman Law Building (do not take the 94C bus), enter the east entrance of Jackman

      Eastbound to the law school
      94 bus, exit at Queen's Park West at the Hoskin Ave/Tower Road stop, then cross the street and head to the south entrance of Jackman


PARKING
DO NOT use the lot adjacent to the Jackman Law Building as all of the spaces are reserved parking, and parking will incur a ticket.

Coin/credit at pay machine. 
Cash parking receipts are not transferable and are valid at the parking lot where purchased

  • From 6am-4pm: $4.00 half hour
  • From 6am-10pm: $25.00 maximum
  • From 4pm-6:00am: $10.00 flat rate

After parking, use the south entrance of Jackman Law Building.
