Equality and the Family

Journal of Law and EqualitySince the inception of the Charter, 'the family' has received considerable  treatment from the courts on equality issues. Recently, this interaction between the Charter and the traditional legal concepts surrounding the family has produced the reaffirmation of the parental use of corporal punishment and the legalization of same-sex marriage. This conference is devoted to exploring the effect of section 15 upon 'the family' over the last twenty years - from spousal obligations to parental rights to equal treatment for same-sex couples, and everything in between.
