Annual See Yourself Here event draws 200 high school students from across GTA

More than 200 high school students from the Greater Toronto Area, including the City of Toronto and York and Peel Regions,  attended the Faculty of Law’s 2018 See Yourself Here event, March 9th, to promote post-secondary education in law and legal careers, and help demystify the law school application process. Students came from approximately 20 different high schools. Originally started 10 years ago by members of the Black Law Students Association, the annual event invites high school students from cultures traditionally under-represented in law.

A busy, energetic schedule greeted 145 new admits plus their guests to the Faculty of Law this Welcome Day, Feb. 23, 2018, as faculty, alumni and current students presented the very best of what the law school offers in the spectacular new Jackman Law Building.

Guests came from almost every province across Canada, except for Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, and many were from the US: Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina.

Twenty-eight years ago, 14 women were killed at the École Polytechnique in Montreal by a shooter who claimed feminists had ruined his life. 

Kristina Nikolova had just turned one and Ashley Major wasn't yet born, but the tragedy has had a profound effect on them.
