Faculty of Law welcomes new Law Alumni Association (LAA) Council Members

The Law Alumni Association (LAA) is a dedicated group of alumni volunteers committed to supporting the enrichment of the Faculty of Law by engaging the broader alumni community. In the coming months, the association will collaborate on key networking initiatives, the upcoming alumni awards and participate in key Faculty and university events. The association is led by LAA President, Mark Surchin (JD 1981).

On December 6, 2024, the Hon. Arif Virani (LLB 1998), Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced the appointment of U of T Law graduate, Justice Gordon J. Cudjoe (JD MA 1999) to Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario in Brampton.

Faculty of Law graduate Mark J. Sandler (LLB 1978) has been selected to receive the 2025 Toronto Lawyers Association (TLA) Award of Distinction.

One of Canada’s most respected and prominent criminal lawyers, Sandler has practised criminal appellate and trial litigation for more than four decades.

The TLA Award of Distinction is awarded in recognition of the recipient's lifetime contributions, excellence and outstanding achievements, as well as his or her dedication to the Toronto community, legal and at large.
