On April 21, 2009, the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights held a book launch for the new book Parliamentary Democracy in Crisis: The Dilemmas, Choices and Future of Parliamentary Government in Canada, edited by Lorne Sossin and Peter Russell and published by University of Toronto Press.

The launch included a panel discussion featuring Peter Hogg, Michael Valpy, David Cameron, and Barbara Cameron, moderated by Prof. Sujit Choudhry.

Asper Centre calls for inquiry into background checks of potential jurors

In a brief to the Ontario Privacy Commissioner as part of the investigation into the alleged practice of conducting background checks on potential jurors, the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights calls for a public inquiry or wide-ranging independent probe of the issue. The brief was prepared by Prof. Lisa Austin, Research Assistant Kerri Lui (a JD student at the Faculty of Law), and Executive Director Cheryl Milne.
