The University of Toronto Student Leadership Award continues U of T’s long-standing tradition of recognizing outstanding student leadership, service and commitment to the university. Five U of T Law students from the JD Class of 2022, are being recognized for their exemplary leadership and service to the university.

"On behalf of the Faculty, I congratulate this year's University of Toronto Student Leadership Award recipients," said University Professor and Dean Jutta Brunnée. "We have an exceptionally engaged community, and I thank this year's recipients for their sustained contributions throughout their time at U of T Law."

Branden is most proud of his work in developing and encouraging good governance practices at all levels and in all communities at the Faculty of Law.

Novalee Alaine Davy

Novalee Alaine Davy

Novalee is most proud of her contributions to designing and launching the Black Future Lawyers program at the Faculty of Law, designed to make law school more accessible for Black students.

Asha Gordon

Asha Gordon

As a member of Black Law Students' Association (BLSA) at U of T and Black Future Lawyers, Asha has been a dedicated advocate for improving diversity and equity within law school and the legal profession. 

Jemma Lewis

Jemma Lewis

Jemma has demonstrated her commitment to mentorship by participating in every formal mentorship program offered by the Faculty of Law and organizing events related to professional development.

Karlie Dawn Nordstrom

Karlie Dawn Nordstrom

Karlie was Co-President of the Indigenous Law Students' Association (ILSA), an Executive of the Peer Mental Health Support Program (PMHSP), and a member of the Dean's Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) Implementation Committee.
