Fox IP Moot

The Harold G. Fox Moot promotes the advancement of education in the intellectual property field and is named in honour of the late Harold G. Fox, one of Canada’s leading intellectual property scholars and advocates. 

Held virtually Feb. 19 & 20, U of T Law's Sam Kokonis and Flint Patterson won the Fox Cup for the Best Mooting Team. They faced fellow U of T Law students Hannah Cinel and Matthew Mohtadi‎ in the semi-finals, who were recognized as runners-up for the Gordon F. Henderson Award for the best factum writers (appellant team). 

Cinel was also named a runner-up for Best Oralist and the winner of the DLA Piper LLP Award for Mooting Excellence. She and a teammate will be invited to represent U of T Law at the 2022 Oxford International IP Moot in England.

These wins mark the second consecutive year of top U of T placement at the Fox IP Moot.

The team's practitioner coaches are Andy Shaughnessy, Partner, Torys LLP; Dominique Hussey, Vice Chair and Toronto Managing Partner, Co-Head of Innovation, Technology & Branding Practice, Bennett Jones; and 3L students Sara BolourchianSamantha Hargreaves, Paul Jeronimo and Amanda Wolczanski.
