Bowman tax moot

The Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot is Canada’s first competitive moot on taxation and is administered by a committee of judges and practitioners. The Moot is named after the Honourable Donald G.H. Bowman, former Chief Justice of the Tax Court of Canada.

Held virtually Feb. 26 and 27, U of T Law's appellant team (Hannah Bourgeois and Caroline Harrell) and respondent team (Lynne Westerhof and Thien Hoang) reached the semi-finals where are only two teams (respondent and appellant) compete.

Although the teams did not advance to the final round, the second place appellant and second place respondent finish (3rd overall) was an impressive performance for U of T Law this year!

The team was coached by Professor Benjamin AlarieAndrew Boyd, Associate, Taxation, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP; and Martha MacDonald, Partner, Tax Controversy and Litigation Practice, Torys LPP; and 3L student coaches Jae Won Hur and Paul Hildebrandt.
