Earlier this month, the Indigenous Initiatives Office (IIO) at U of T Law hosted the inaugural Medicine Garden harvest.

With assistance from the Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA), this special event brought together members of the U of T Law community to braid sweetgrass, and harvest sage and tobacco.

Elder-in-Residence, Elder Constance Simmonds, was also in attendance and spoke on the historical significance and traditional uses of sacred medicines.

Medicine Garden

The Medicine Garden is located just outside the Hoskin Avenue entrance of the Jackman Building. The garden is the inspiration and work of Solomon King, Principal Mason and Founder of Stone Artisan Studios, who is from Neyaashiinigmiing.
