U of T Law alumni are known to distinguish themselves every day in their professional and community achievements, here locally in Toronto, across Canada, and around the world.

Canadian Lawyer's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers list "reflects how the work of these members of the legal system has had an impact, whether in the courtroom, law school, law firm or business, or at a policy level." 

U of T alumni making the list of Canadian Lawyer's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers: 

Category: In-house

  • Heather Platt (LLB 1999), Chief Legal Officer, Metrolinx

Category: Governments, Non-profits, Associations

  • Louis Peter Tsilivis (JD/MA Global Affairs 2014), Director of Budget and Finance, Office of the Mayor of Toronto

Category: Changemakers

  • Paul-Erik Veel (JD 2009), Partner, Lenczner Slaght

Canadian Lawyer conducted surveys between March 8 and April 8 seeking nominations of those who have have had impact on the legal profession over the past 18 months in one of five categories: human rights, advocacy and criminal law; business; in-house; and government, non-profits or associations. In total, there were 147 nominations and 14,721 votes cast to determine the final list of the Top 25 for 2022.
