In honour of Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day, the Indigenous Law Students’ Association (ILSA) and the Indigenous Initiatives Office (IIO) are hosting a short film screening, discussion, and annual Fall Feast.

TRC week

Film screening, discussion and Fall Feast: Sept 28

We invite students, faculty and staff to join us on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. in the Rosalie Silberman Abella Moot Court Room (JD250).

The Fall Feast is an opportunity for members of ILSA and non-Indigenous students to share our culture through food and more. This year we will watch a short film and follow with discussion. Elder Constance Simmonds will open the event.

Please note: Some food will be provided by Charger Foods (Indigenous caterer), but this is a potluck-style event. Guests are encouraged to bring their favourite shareable dish (not mandatory in order to attend). If you have a feast bundle (reusable plate, cup and cutlery), please bring it.

While Orange Shirt Day is officially September 30, members of the ILSA and IIO will recognize this important day at our Fall Feast on September 28. We hope to see many in orange (or orange-ish) shirts in attendance.

Orange Shirt Day: Sept 30

Orange Shirt Day is an annual day of recognition for residential school survivors. It was started in 2013, after a commemoration event for the survivors of the St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake, BC.

Further information to be posted.
