The Faculty of Law is inviting outstanding applications it could support for a Banting postdoctoral research fellowship.

The Banting programme offers a prestigious fellowship of CAN$ 70 000 per year for a duration of two years. Launched by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) in 2011, the programme insists on the synergy between the applicant’s “individual merit and potential to launch a successful research-intensive career” as well as on the host institution’s “commitment to the research program and environment with which the applicant is to be affiliated.”

The Banting postdoctoral fellowship is open to all Canadian and international candidates who have completed their doctorate between September 20th 2014 and September 30th 2018. Those interested in applying should review in detail the relevant sections in the Application Guide to ensure that their application fully addresses each of the selection criteria.

Applicants must submit a copy of their application to Aleatha Cox by July 30th, 2017 at midnight. Please note that the faculty of law does not have access to the online ResearchNet application system. Therefore, in addition to sending a copy of their applications, applicants should also instruct their referees to send a confidential copy of their letters to Mrs. Cox once they have uploaded it on ResearchNet but no later than August 15, 2017.

Applicants are encouraged to contact full-time professors at the Faculty of Law to seek support for their applications. If a faculty member agrees to serve as a supervisor, they will be required to provide the "supervisor statement" by August 15th. If a supervisor has not been secured by the July 30th deadline, the applicant should submit the application indicating the name of potential supervisor(s)and justifying their choice in the application materials.

For more information, please see the School of Graduate Studies website, or contact Aleatha Cox.
