Memory loss and torture

I have long known that torture can impair the memory of survivors. What I learned from observing the recent military commission proceedings in the case of Omar Khadr, the Canadian facing trial at Guantanamo for crimes he allegedly committed at age 15, is that it can impair the memory of perpetrators too.

Prof. Lorne Sossin(March 8, 2010) Our loss is Osgoode Law School's gain. Our very own Prof. Lorne Sossin becomes the new dean of York University's law school, starting July 1, 2010.

And you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone at the Faculty of Law who wouldn't agree that this announcement comes with pleasure, pride and regret.

Professor Edward Altman, of the Stern School of Business, New York University, gave a presentation, followed by a panel discussion with international and Toronto specialists in the field.
