U of T Law is ready to welcome 214 JD students to campus!

Since 2015, U of T Law has conducted a self-reporting diversity survey to help inform the Faculty's services and programs.

This year, 2,281 prospective students applied for fall 2023 admission to the JD program. Women comprise the class majority at 58% (up 2% from 2022).

Of the new JD students, 82% are the first in their family to attend law school, with nearly 33% born outside of Canada, and 64% of students' parents/guardians also born outside of Canada (up 6% from 2022).

Students who study at U of T Law can also complete a second, graduate-level degree in another discipline which complements their JD legal education. The top three combined programs of study include: 

  1. Global Affairs (MGA)
  2. Business Administration (MBA)
  3. An tie between Economics (MA), English (MA), Philosophy (PhD) and Public Policy (MPP)

Of the class, 86% believe artificial intelligence should be regulated.
