It is with immense sadness that the Faculty of Law announces the passing of Professor Emeritus Edmund Alexander.

Born and raised in Toronto, Professor Alexander graduated from the University of Toronto in 1953 with a Bachelor of Commerce and the Faculty of Law with a Bachelor of Laws in 1956.

After briefly teaching in Ottawa, he returned to Toronto and spent 25 years teaching at the Faculty of Law. He was a passionate and dedicated professor, leaving a legacy of kindness and generosity to students and colleagues alike.

Once retired, Professor Alexander and his beloved wife, Barb, spent many happy years at their cottage in the Algonquin Highlands. Whether canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, or enjoying Barb's superb culinary creations, they never lost their appreciation for the sheer beauty that surrounded them. Ted's other great passion was baseball. The night he proposed to Barb, he took her to a game at the old Maple Leaf Stadium to celebrate. He followed the Toronto Blue Jays to the end of his life and was always optimistic that "this year" would be the one.

There will be no service in accordance with Ted's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Save Me Dog Rescue (donations@savemedogrescue.ca) or the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
