The Faculty of Law is saddened to announce the passing of Visiting Professor G. Blaine Baker. Professor Baker was an accomplished scholar in the area of Canadian legal history, as well as commercial and administrative law.  He was the recipient of publishing awards from the Canadian Law and Society Association, the Canadian Association of Law Libraries, the American Society for Legal History and the Canadian Historical Association. 

To many, Professor Baker was a beloved adjunct professor and member of this Faculty of Law community.  Since 2013, he taught a variety of courses here including Canadian Legal History, Administrative Law, and Legal Process, Professionalism and Ethics For the upcoming academic year, he was scheduled to teach Ethical Issues in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Legal Process.

At the time of his death, Professor Baker was an Emeritus Professor at McGill University’s Faculty of Law, where he had served for many years.  McGill has put together an online Tribute Book, which can be viewed and contributed to here.  

Our deepest condolences go out to Professor Baker’s family and friends at this difficult time.

The McGill University Law School has organized a memorial service on Sept. 7, 2018.
