Health care series guest speaker, the Hon. Roy Romanow, packs lecture hall

The Hon. Roy Romanow told a standing-room only audience on September 30, 2004 that Canada's first ministers were wrong to focus on wait list times for only a few specific medical services. He said the emphasis should be on all medical services, not just cardiac, cancer, joint replacement and cataract and diagnostics.

His comments were part of the Faculty's Health Law and Seminar Series at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. The lecture, "The Past, Present and Future of Medicare," was organized by the Health Law Group of the Faculty of Law and U of T's Department of Health Policy Management and Evaluation.

The Hon. Romanow, a leading figure in public health care debates, is best recognized for chairing the 2001 Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada.
