Professor Albert Yoon of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law has been named a Fellow of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation in recognition of his leadership, research and teaching.

He is one of five exceptional scholars chosen for their record of work in relation to the foundation’s 2022-2025 Scientific Cycle, Global Economies.

Yoon holds the Michael J. Trebilcock Chair in Law and Economics. His research focuses on legal ethics and technology and labour markets. He is also the co-founder of Blue J Legal, a U of T legal technology startup that draws upon artificial intelligence to provide instant and comprehensive answers in complex areas of tax, labour, and employment law.

“Albert Yoon is an exemplary scholar,” said University Professor Jutta Brunnée, Dean of the Faculty of Law and James Marshall Tory Dean’s Chair. “It is wonderful that the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation has chosen to recognize Albert’s leadership in law and economics with this fellowship.”

Fellows will provide additional academic mentorship to the 2022-20225 cohort of 13 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholars, engaging them in ideas beyond their doctoral training.
