The first edition of Canadian Lawyer's 5-Star Pro Bono firms in partnership with Pro Bono Ontario (PBO), recognizes access to justice firms provided, Canada-wide.
 
The top pro bono firms in Ontario alone helped PBO assist 34,000 underprivileged people whose lives were changed by lawyers active in pro bono work.

In the category of small firms: 
  • Hunter Litigation Chambers, founded by the Hon. Mr. Justice John J.L. Hunter, KC (LLB 1975).Claire Hunter, KC (LLB 2003) is also a partner. 
  • Olthuuis Van Ert; partner Gib van Ert (LLM 2000)

In category of regional/mid-sized firms: 

  • Lenczner Slaght LLP; founding partners Alan J. Lenczener (LLB 1967) and Ronald G. Slaght (LLB 1970)
  • Paliare Roland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP; Ian Roland (LLB 1972) and Linda Rothstein (LLB 1980), named partners. 
Several other law firms including Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) LLP, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP were also named to the list, where many U of T Law alumni are active in pro bono work
