Grand Moot 2011

(Oct. 6, 2011) The Grand Moot for 2011 had a full house, as faculty and students filled the Moot Court room to hear law students Michael Portner Gartke and Emily Shepard argue for the Crown, and Joe Ensom and Kate Southwell for the defence. The theme was "Meth Labs, Public Safety and the Charter" and the star-studded judges' panel consisted of alumni The Honourable Madam Justice Rosalie Abella, Supreme Court of Canada, The Honourable Madam Justice Eileen Gillese, Court of Appeal for Ontario, and The Honourable Mr. Justice John McMahon, Superior Court of Justice. It was standing room only as the audience heard the arguments from the Grand Mooters, and rebuttals from the justices. A reception followed in Flavelle House.
