Accepting the Offer of Admission to a JD Combined Program

Updated: December 11, 2023

Admission decisions for the JD program and the combined partner program are made independently, in accordance with each program’s selection procedures and timelines.

Consequently, you will receive notification of the admission decision from one of the programs first, then you will await the decision from the other program.

Starting in May, an offer of admission to the Combined program can only be created after the JD Admissions Office has been notified that the partner program has also offered admission, and after the JD tuition deposit has been processed by Student Accounts. Therefore, you must notify the JD Admissions Office by email of your offer of admission to the partner program.

In accordance with the timing of offers, accept both offers of admission by deadlines specified in the respective offer packages.

Please proceed as follows:

Initial Offer of Admission to one of the programs

First Offer Received
Send Notification
Accept the Offer
JD-only
Without delay, email the partner program with notification of your offer to the JD.

Await the outcome of your partner program application.
Accept the JD-only program by the JD acceptance deadline.
Do not try to accept the JD Combined program.
  1. Log into your OLSAS account

  2. In the left side menu of Application Links, select Choices/Offers

  3. Select the link to the Offer for the JD only program

  4. Select your Response to Offer, as follows:

    • Provisional Accept
this option is NOT available if you applied to the uncombined UofT JD as your sole Ontario law school program choice at OLSAS, in which case, do not respond to the offer, and IMMEDIATELY email JD Admissions in order to have the JD combined program choice added at OLSAS, otherwise ...

this acceptance option is available until July 1 for admits to first-year; and Aug 1 for admits to upper-year

The Provisional Accept makes it easier technically, to accept UofT Law, then later on, if offered, also return seamlessly to your OLSAS account to accept the combined program.

With a Provisional Accept to UofT you can specify if you still wish to be considered for all other Ontario law schools that have active offers, or have yet to make admission decisions. Ensure that you select to keep consideration open for the UofT combined program choice.

  5.  Pay the JD tuition deposit as per the instructions on the tuition deposit form.
Partner program only
Without delay, email the JD Admissions Office with notification of your offer to the partner program.

Await the outcome of your JD-only application.
By the method specified in the partner program's offer package.
