Jennie Stone is the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Legal Services. She was NLS' staff immigration lawyer from 2011-2019. Prior to joining NLS she co-founded the Hong Kong Refugee Advice Centre (now Justice Centre HK) which advocates for refugee claimants and vulnerable migrants in the HKSAR.  Until November 2018 she spent 4 years on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Council for Refugees.

Jennie thinks a lot about how to best accommodate clients through ableist legal systems. Together with her NLS colleagues she leads the Health Justice Program, which provides embedded legal services for patients of the Family Health Team at St. Mike’s. The HJP also brings together a number of specialty legal clinics (HALCOARCH, and ALS) with primary health care providers to engage in cross-professional education and systemic advocacy around key social determinants of health.

Jennie studied at McGill University (Hons BA), the London School of Economics (MSc) and the University of Toronto (JD). She was called to the Ontario bar in 2005.
