The inaugural University of Toronto Faculty of Law Students’ Research Symposium will be held virtually on March 24 and 25, 2023! The Symposium is a student-run initiative committed to inviting law students to present their research to fellow students, faculty members, legal professionals, judges, and more. Awards will be provided to JD students for submissions and presentations.

The Hon. Gloria Epstein

Keynote by the Honourable Gloria Epstein (LLB 1977, Hon. LLD 2022)

The keynote speaker for this event will be none other than the Hon. Gloria Epstein (LLB 1977, Hon. LLD 2022), a retired justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal known for her work on cases involving the issue of Not Criminally Responsible on Account of Mental Disorder (NCRMD) and her ruling in the landmark case M v H, which dealt with the rights of same-sex couples under the Family Law Act of Ontario. Justice Epstein has also been involved in various legal organizations and initiatives, including the Ontario Review Board and the Law Commission of Ontario. Prior to her appointment to the Court of Appeal, she served as a judge on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
