In January, Israel’s newly elected right-wing government announced plans for a radical transformation of the country’s legal system. For nine-weeks in a row, hundreds of thousands of Israelis went to the streets to protest these reforms, many of which consider a constitutional coup.

If you wish to learn more about these ongoing dramatic events, join us on Sunday, March 12, 2023 for a discussion with Professor Ronit Levine-Schnur.

Professor Ronit Levine-Schnur, of Reichman University (IDC Herzliya), Israel, is a founder of the Israeli Law Professors’ Forum for Democracy. She will discuss the current transformative regime changes advanced by the Israeli government, the threat they pose to Israel’s democracy, and the legal academics actions in response. Professor Levine-Schnur will also address the meaning of the Israeli government’s recent organizational changes with respect to the Occupied West Bank, steps she identifies as an undeclared de jure annexation.
