Gopal Sreenivasan is the Lester Crown University Distinguished Professor of Ethics at Duke University.  He works in many areas across the range of moral, political, and legal philosophy.  His most recent book is Emotion and Virtue (Princeton, 2020).  He has also published two related series of papers, one on rights and another on human rights.  He is integrating this material with a number of previously unpublished chapters into a new book, imaginatively titled Rights and Human Rights (Oxford, forthcoming).  This workshop paper is the final chapter in that book.  Sreenivasan recently had the pleasure of holding a visiting fellowship simultaneously with his former colleagues, David Dyzenhaus and Cheryl Misak, while on sabbatical in Oxford.
