The Future of Data Privacy
w/ Dina Maxwell, Director & Privacy Lead at PWC Canada

Monday, November 14th from 12:30pm-1:30pm
Jackman Building, Room J125

Bill C-27, the Digital Charter Implementation Act, was tabled to strengthen Canada's private sector privacy law, create new rules for the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence, and continue advancing the implementation of Canada's Digital Charter. If passed, this will represent Canada's next foray into the evolving digital privacy landscape.

There is no question that this is a particularly sensitive topic, and the Bill has already proven controversial to some commenters. Some view the Bill as government overreach, whereas others claim it does not go far enough and instead favours industry over individuals. Data and Privacy legislation also invites easy comparison with other jurisdictions, and many find Canada to be lagging behind other nations.

On Monday, November 14th, we are fortunate to be joined by Dina Maxwell, Director and Privacy Lead at PWC Canada, who will provide her insight on the Bill and how organizations and legal professionals are keeping ahead in a constantly changing digital landscape. She will also help to sketch out what the future of Data and Privacy looks like in Canada. Dina is Toronto-based legal expert and thought-leader in privacy, data governance and cybersecurity, and is also a friend of the Future of Law Lab, having led the Privacy Breach Case Simulation in the 2021 academic year.

Lunch will be provided at this session. We hope you will be able to attend!
