The U.S. Perspective on the Health Insurance Debate in Canada

Dean Bobinski was appointed Dean and Professor at UBC as of July 1, 2003. She previously served as the John and Rebecca Moores Professor of Law and Director of the Health Law and Policy Institute at the University of Houston Law Centre. She also served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Law Centre from 1998-2000. Bobinski's research and teaching interests include Torts, health law, health care finance and bioethics, legal aspects of HIV infection, and reproductive health law issues. She is a co-author of two leading law school casebooks, Health Care Law & Ethics and AIDS Policy and Law; the co-author/co-editor of a two volume set on medical ethics; and has authored a number of law review articles and book chapters on health law topics. Bobinski has participated extensively in professional service activities, including the Law School Admissions Council, the Association of American Law Schools, and various human rights organizations. She is a frequent lecturer in the United States and now in Canada on topics ranging from health care finance to medical malpractice to legal aspects of e-health.
