lawTechCamp:
Law and Technology UnConference for a New Age
UnConference Organized by lawTechCamp and hosted by CILP
Saturday June 18th, 2011 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
FLB (Classroom B), Flavelle House, 78 Queen’s Park Avenue,
Faculty of Law, University of Toronto
At first glance, the legal and technological industries could not be more different. Yet, a closer look reveals the two fields are intersecting at more than one point. There are increasingly more lawyers working primarily with technology companies, new companies creating technologies in the legal space, lawyers and law firms being impacted by changes in technology and influenced by its delivery models, and technology companies whose businesses are increasingly impacted by IP, privacy and other regulatory issues. The two fields, law and technology could learn a lot from each other - if they can come together on neutral ground and converse in terms that are comfortable.
Unlike traditional conferences, an UnConference empowers the audience to shape and share ideas. The content is generated by you, the attendees. In order to ensure that attendees have quality sessions to attend, sessions will be suggested prior to the event. Anyone interested in speaking or directing a session, can submit a session request online on lawTechCamp's website.
There will be three or four 45 min tracks of simultaneous events. Of course, the structure will vary depending on the interest generated and the submissions received. Attendees choose which sessions they will attend.
This event is open to new media and technology enthusiasts, legal professionals including technology lawyers, technology developers who build applications for the legal industry, bloggers, tweeters, social networkers and anyone curious about new media and technology and its intersection with law.
Participation is free but registration is required.
Coffee and pastries will be served.
