MEDIA ADVISORY
(Toronto, ON) Join us at the University of Toronto as we bring together - for the first time - leading and distinguished players in the insolvency and restructuring fields to discuss current conditions and outlook in the global credit markets.
This free public lecture and panel discussion features guest speaker Professor Edward Altman from the Stern School of Business, New York University. Altman has an international reputation as an expert on corporate bankruptcy, high yield bonds, distressed debt and credit risk analysis. In 2005, he was named one of the "100 Most Influential People in Finance" by Treasury & Risk Management magazine. Altman will review some of the major reasons the credit markets melted down in 2007-2009, what has happened since the recovery began in March 2009 and, most importantly, the outlook for defaults and recoveries in 2010 and beyond. His forecasts are based on five different methodologies including human mortality rates, recession scenario-based methods, and market-based models.
Panelists include: Judge James Peck, from the US Bankruptcy Court; Mahesh Uttamchandani, from the World Bank; Ken Coleman, from the New York firm Allen Overy; and Dan Dowdall, from Toronto's Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. The Honourable James Farley, Q.C., of McCarthy Tetrault LLP and formerly of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, is chair.
