We Will Stand Up
ILSA & IIO Film Screening

Tuesday, April 6, 2021
7:00 PM -9:00 PM EDT

Location: Zoom

Since Colten Boushie’s death in 2016, his family has advocated tirelessly for #JusticeForColten, and for broader change to canada’s colonial legal system. Four and a half years into this pursuit, the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission (CRCC) has completed its Public Interest Investigation.

The recently released CRCC Report includes 47 findings as well as 17 recommendations to address the deficiencies identified in the RCMP’s investigation and interactions with Colten’s family following his death.

In light of this report and the ongoing fight for #JusticeForColten, ILSA and the IIO encourage you to join us for a screening of nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up on Tuesday, April 6th at 7PM, and a subsequent panel discussion on Wednesday, April 7th at 12:30PM with the ever-impressive Kent Roach and Caitlyn Kasper.

Registration is required, and the zoom link will be sent out to those registered on the morning of each event.

Finally, please note that the content of both the film and the CRCC Report may be disturbing or triggering for attendees, especially those who have experienced violence, racism, and trauma. The impact will also be different for Indigenous and non-Indigenous folks, and we urge you to be mindful of this reality when attending the event and participating in the discussion.

Student mental health and wellness manager Terry Gardiner (terry.gardiner@utoronto.ca) is available to help connect all students to resources and supports.
