Professor Ernie Weinrib, a pioneer in interdisciplinary legal scholarship, has been awarded the Killam Prize in Social Sciences, Canada's highest honour for scholarly achievement. In paying this tribute to Professor Weinrib, the Canada Council for the Arts noted his crucial roles in turning attention from the instrumental uses of private law to its moral possibilities, and in transforming academic legal discourse and addressing fundamental questions about the relationship between law, freedom and rationality.

To celebrate this milestone in Professor Weinrib's remarkable career, the Faculty of Law is proud to present a lecture and celebration on Friday, October 23rd. Professor Weinrib will be delivering a special lecture on "Private Law and Public Right" for this occasion.  He will be joined by a number of honoured guests, who will comment on his contributions to the field.
