  • September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day for honouring the children who were taken away from their homes to residential schools, and for addressing the legacy those schools left behind.

In recognition of this day, the Indigenous Law Students’ Association invites you to join us from 12:30 - 2:00 PM for a virtual screening of Inendi (“She is Absent”). Inendi is a short documentary by Sarain Fox that documents the stories of her matriarch, Auntie Mary, a knowledge keeper and survivor of residential schools.

The film screening will be followed by a guided discussion led by ILSA members. Together, we will discuss the legacy of residential schools, the impact law has had on reinforcing intergenerational trauma, and how we can use our legal education to advance Indigenous child welfare in Canada.

Please note that the event will take place virtually, and registration is required. Zoom details will be sent out to registered attendees on the day of the event.
