 MAURICE ADAMS studied law and philosophy of law at the Universities of Maastricht (the Netherlands), Leuven (Belgium) and Oxford (UK). He did a Ph.D. in law at the University of Leuven. Since 1997 he is a professor of law at the University of Antwerp in Belgium, teaching mainly in the field of jurisprudence and comparative law. As of September 2007 he is a professor of law at Tilburg University (the Netherlands), and part-time professor of comparative law at the University of Antwerp (Belgium). In his research he has a particular interest in issues of regulation, and in the relation between law and politics (and political theory) and law and ethics. He has written extensively on the regulation of euthanasia. He also functioned twice in an advisory capacity for Belgian parliament on the regulation of euthanasia, and also for the House of Lords in the United Kingdom.
