Justice Izhak Englard served on the Israeli Supreme Court from 1997 to 2003. He is the Bora Laskin Professor of Law (Emeritus) at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he was Dean of the Law Faculty from 1984 to 1987. He has served as visiting professor and lecturer at many universities, including Yale Law School, USC Law School, University of Rome, University of Zurich, University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Columbia Law School.

He is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law. He is author of many books and articles on Law of Torts, Family Law, Unjust Enrichment, Jurisprudence, Jewish Law, State and Religion, and Comparative Law.

He earned a Magister Juris from Hebrew University and did his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Paris, France.
