Columbia Law School professor Tim Wu talks about his new book,

"The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires". Wu's book

 documents the history of how each new medium in North American history

 started out with innovation and independence but ultimately fells under

 stifling, monopolistic control. He considers whether the Internet is headed down

 the same path and what legal tools are available to keep information networks

open and innovative.
