What does winning Jeopardy have to do with legal research? Will a computer program created at UofT replace junior associates as claimed in the Globe and Mail?  Come listen to the creators of new prototype legal research tools, ROSS and Blue J, and a panel of experts discuss what it means to train an IBM supercomputer to answer legal questions, and what automating research means for lawyers, the legal profession, and others. Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The event will include demonstrations of the two prototype legal research tools, followed by a panel discussion including Professor Ben Alarie (who is developing Blue J), Susan Barker (The Bora Laskin Law Library digital services librarian), and  representatives from IBM. UofT was the only school chosen by IBM to develop a legal research tool for their recent student competition to use Watson.
