PBSC-McCarthy Tétrault Public Interest Internship

The PBSC-McCarthy Tétrault Public Interest Internship is a new and unique opportunity for three first year law students to be exposed to the delivery of pro bono legal services at a leading Bay Street firm.

Interns will gain practical experience assisting lawyers from McCarthy Tétrault on a variety of the firm's pro bono files.  Students will receive PBSC volunteer training, PBSC-Westlaw legal research and writing training and an introduction to business law in preparation for the internship.

How Does the PBSC-MT Internship Work?

Interested students should submit a resume and cover letter to Adam Ibrahim, the PBSC-MT Volunteer Coordinator, expressing why they are interested in working on pro bono files at McCarthy Tétrault. Applications should be received by Wednesday September 16, 2015 at 5pm. PBSC and McCarthy Tétrault will then select one student from U of T and two students from Osgoode for the internship. Students may also apply to other PBSC projects.

Students selected to participate will attend mandatory PBSC training on September 28 or 30. They will also participate in McCarthy Tétrault's specialized training program on October 16th at McCarthy Tétrault's Toronto office. Students will work alongside partners and associates at the firm on pro bono files, will participate in Continuing Legal Education seminars (e.g. Commercial Drafting), and will write blog posts on a topic of their choosing.

Please note that specialized training on October 16th from 1-3pm is mandatory. Students who cannot make this training session should not apply.
