Alumna Noella Milne

Alumna Noella Milne, LLB 1986, has been named the new chancellor of Toronto’s George Brown College. She’ll be officially appointed as the college’s second chancellor at the installation ceremony on May 3rd.

A prominent real estate lawyer and senior partner at BLG in Toronto, Milne has been volunteering with GBC for 15 years, serving consecutive terms on its board of governors from 2003-2009 and its foundation board from 2010 to 2018. She completed her term as chair of the foundation board last year.

Milne immigrated to Canada from Mumbai, India, by herself at the age of 17. She worked to put herself through night school, to earn a community college degree and then a university degree. She then graduated with a law degree at U of T.  One of her passions includes advocating and championing youth, among her many other volunteer and mentor activities.

A notable member of the community, she’s received an Order of Ontario, a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, a RBC Top 25 Immigrant Award, a YWCA Women of Distinction award, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Children's Aid Foundation and an Arbor Award from the University of Toronto.

In addition, she’s been named to the Women's Executive Network (WXN) as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
