Instructor(s): Vincent Chiao

This section of this course is offered on campus, for students who can attend in person. This course will meet 3 times a week, once via audio-visual conference (Mon), once in-person (Tues), and one meeting will be hybrid, rotating between AV conferences and in-class meetings (Wed). In order to safeguard the health and safety of students, there is a possibility that all sections of this class will convert to a remote format for all or part of the term. All students must meet or exceed the tech requirements for enrolment in University of Toronto courses, which can be found here [https://www.viceprovoststudents.utoronto.ca/students/tech-requirements-online-learning/]

This course examines some of the basic concepts of the criminal law through sustained attention to several common offenses. We will also consider inchoate and group crimes, as well as the impact of the Charter on substantive criminal law.

Evaluation
Students will be evaluated by a 3 hour open book final examination (90%) and class participation (10%).
