Externship Seminar

Students may obtain an additional ungraded credit for working on a current environmental case or issue with an environmental law practitioner. Assignments will be made at the beginning of the first semester and will take approximately 24 hours to complete. Assignments must be completed at the latest, by end of March 2018. Deadlines will depend on timing of the externship and will be determined by the instructors on an individual basis. Credit will not be granted until the externship is completed. Therefore, the credit is earned in the second term. The placement may involve civil actions, prosecutions, administrative hearings or appeals. The number of placements may be limited depending on the availability of appropriate assignments.

Evaluation
Credit/No credit. Students have the following options: (i) write a short paper, total length about 2500 words on the insights this experience shed on the issues covered in the class; or (ii) extend the length of their research paper in Environmental Law by 2500 words with this extended paper engaging with the issue that is the subject of their externship experience. In addition, all students will participate in a discussion class, to take place in early March 2019. Each student will present on their externship experience for approximately 10-15 minutes.
