  This paper examines the decision making processes of a committee jointly created by the Ontario Medical Association and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to review what physician services should and should not be funded by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.

  This paper examines the Physician Services Committee as a labour relations institution.

• Working Paper No. 3 - "Development of a Taxonomy for Health Care Decision Making in Canada" by Prof. Peter Coyte, with assistance from Dara Zarnett and Andree Mitchell. (1.13 MB) (Updated March 2005)

  This paper develops a way of categorising decision making in the health care system. It sees decision making as being performed on seven levels and by three different processes.

• Working Paper No. 4 - "The Boundaries of Canadian Medicare: The Role of Medical Directors and Public Participation in Decision Making" by Mona Awad, Prof. Julia Abelson, and Prof. Colleen Flood. (1.25 MB)

  This paper examines the role of salaried physicians, known as "Medical Directors" or "Medical Consultants", working within the various provincial Ministries of Health. It also discusses public participation in decision making by the Medical Directors.
