Environmental Law: Practical Opportunities for Credit

Environmental Law Practicum

  • Students may obtain credit for working on a current environmental case with an environmental law practitioner. Students must be enrolled in Environmental Law to participate in the Practicum. Cases may involve civil actions, prosecutions, administrative hearings or appeals.
  • The practicum will be directed a practitioner with environmental experience in consultation with the Professor of Environmental Law. The number of practicum placements may be limited depending on the availability of appropriate assignments.

Regulation in Action: Ministry of the Environment

  • Students may obtain credit for working on a current issue with an environmental lawyer at the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE) - Legal Services Branch. A list of available topics will be provided at the beginning of each semester. They may include issues relating to inter-jurisdictional (including international), regulatory or prosecution matters. Students must be taking Environmental Law, International Environmental Law or the Directed research course to be enrolled in Regulation in Action.
  • The Regulation in Action project will be directed by Ms. Laura Nemchin, Counsel at the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, Ministry of Environment - Legal Services Branch, in consultation with the instructor of the course in which they are enrolled.
