Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples

The Centre for Spanish-Speaking Peoples (CSSP), a thriving multi-service community centre which serves the varied Spanish-speaking community of Greater Toronto, is the site of the student legal clinic for Spanish-speaking peoples. The Centre’s goals include promoting equality and social justice through community development, and participating in and representing the community as a whole.

Students at the clinic have a unique opportunity to work with the diverse Spanish-speaking community in an interdisciplinary service context. Clinic work includes face-to-face client meetings, drafting legal documents, appearing at hearings and in court, and researching varied legal issues.

You do not need to speak Spanish to participate. While this language is an asset, most of our caseworkers communicate with clients through the staff interpreter.

First year students may volunteer at the clinic, and second or third year students may enroll in the Clinic for Credit program for academic credit. CSSP also traditionally offers summer employment to several caseworkers.
